Scale To Tail Package – Bearded Dragons

WHAT IS THE SCALE TO TAIL PACKAGE?

Our Scale To Tail package is an all-inclusive package designed for bearded dragon owners. The first few months with any new pet can be daunting, and this package will give you peace of mind while providing your bearded dragon with premium veterinary care. It is perfect for new owners just starting with a baby beardie or owners of mature beardies who just haven’t had time to organize getting all their pet’s vet work done.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

Comprehensive Health Checkup: Bearded dragons are very good at hiding illness from their owners. Our Scale To Tail package includes a full health checkup by one of our veterinarians.

Intestinal Parasite Screen: With the aid of a microscope we perform a combined test to determine if your pet has internal parasites such as pinworms, tapeworms, roundworms, coccidia and giardia that can be very detrimental to their health.

CBC (Complete Blood Count): With a small drop of blood, we will screen your bearded dragon for infection, inflammation, or anemia.

Adenovirus Screen: Aka “Wasting Disease” or “Star Gazing”, Adenovirus is a contagious and devastating viral disease quite prevalent among bearded dragons.  Infected young beardies do not thrive, spend a lot of time hiding, and may die suddenly without any other signs. Some adults will have compromised liver and intestines; they may become underweight and sleep a lot.  Bearded dragons who become infected as adults may die suddenly from neurological complications, but more often will develop liver disease and other health problems. Some adult beardies seem to be resistant to infection.  We strongly recommend screening your bearded dragon for Adenovirus.

Nail Trim: Long nails can be painful for the owner and dangerous for the pet. We will trim them for comfort and safety.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

With our Scale To Tail package you receive $310 worth of care for only $260.

ADD-ONS:

Zoomed UV Bulb and Fixture: Research shows that bearded dragons require ultraviolet light (UVB) in order to metabolize properly and prevent calcium deficiency, which leads to serious health problems.

TAKE FLIGHT PACKAGE – BIRDS

WHAT IS THE TAKE FLIGHT PACKAGE?

Our Take Flight package is an all-inclusive package designed for bird owners. The first few months with any new pet can be daunting, and this package will give you peace of mind while providing your bird with premium veterinary care. It is perfect for new owners just starting with a baby bird or owners of mature birds who just haven’t had time to organize getting all their pet’s vet work done.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

Comprehensive Health Checkup: Birds are very good at hiding illness from their owners. Our Take Flight package includes a full health checkup by one of our veterinarians.

Fecal Cytology (Gram’s Stain): Birds can often carry a range of bacteria and yeast that can cause harm if left unchecked. We will check your bird’s feces under a microscope to identify any offenders that need treating.

CBC (Complete Blood Count): With a small drop of blood, we will screen your bird for infection, inflammation, or anemia.

Infectious Disease Screens: These are very contagious among birds. Some are born infected; others may be carriers of the disease and show no clinical signs!  Complying with these fulfills your bird’s boarding prescreen requirements. These are generally one-time tests, unless there is exposure to new birds. We will screen your bird for the following:

-Chlamydiosis (Parrot fever): This causes severe illness and can be transmitted to humans

-Polyoma Virus: Causes severe systemic disease; there is a vaccine available for young birds

-Pacheco’s Disease (Herpes): Is a virus that attacks the liver

-Psittacine Beak & Feather Disease Virus: Causes feather abnormalities and immune suppression

Nail Trim: Long nails can be painful for the owner and dangerous for the pet. We will trim them for comfort and safety.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

With our Take Flight package you receive $473 worth of care for only $400.

ADD-ONS:

Proper Wing Trim:  We recommend that most pet birds have their wings trimmed for safety. Trimming the wings is helpful when training a bird, because it often reduces the “attitude” the bird may display.

DNA Sexing: Knowing your bird’s gender is very important. It can save valuable diagnostic time if your bird becomes ill, as reproductive complications are a major concern for females.

Microchipping: Microchip identification is a safe and highly effective means of identifying your pet. It enables lost pets to be reunited with their owners. You will register your pet’s microchip online.
Standard $40, as Package Add-On $30

Sedation may be necessary for the safety and comfort of your bird. This will incur additional fees.

Vaccines: Rabies, which is required by state law and Distemper are given yearly. Vaccine reactions are very common and can be life threatening, so we provide pretreatment to help minimize the risk. We carefully monitor your ferret after vaccination so that we can address any reaction that may occur.

Deslorelin Hormone Suppression Implantation under brief anesthesia: Adrenal gland disease is one of the most common health issues we see in ferrets. Healthy adrenal glands produce a specific amount of hormones however in pet ferrets these glands enlarge and produce an excess of hormones. Clinical signs include swelling of the female genitalia, skin disorders, sexual aggression, and hair loss. One or both glands can be affected and in some cases can become cancerous. The implant was designed specifically for ferrets as a convenient and effective alternative to surgery to help ferrets control their adrenal gland disease, and has been proven to help prevent the onset of disease when implanted at a young age.
